They Say They Trust You, So Why Don’t They Hire You?
Let’s talk about the clients who say they “trust you” - but never actually take the next step.
They reach out, ask for advice, say they love your work, maybe even hop on a call.
You give your time, your ideas, your clarity.
They nod, agree, and say something like:
“You really get me.”
“I trust your opinion.”
And then… silence.
Weeks or months pass.
Then they pop back up - not to book, but to ask for another quick opinion. Because why - they trust you!
Here’s the thing:
Trust is amazing - but it only works when it’s backed by action.
If you value someone’s expertise, hiring them isn’t just smart - it’s respectful.
What I’ve Learned (the hard way)
I love helping people. But I’ve also learned to protect my energy and expertise.
Now, I’m clear:
I give value where I can, but I don’t work for free.
I support clients who are ready, not just curious.
And I don’t hold space for “maybe” when I’ve got clients saying “hell yes.”
For My Fellow Creative Designers
If you’ve ever felt drained by people who almost hire you - trust me, you’re not alone.
It’s okay to draw boundaries.
It’s okay to protect your time.
And it’s more than okay to save your best work for the people who are ready to invest in it.
For the Fence-Sitters
If you’ve been circling the idea of working with someone for months - ask yourself what’s really holding you back.
Because clarity doesn’t come from more questions or more opinions - it comes from taking that first step.
And for the Creatives Out There
Let this be your reminder that your time is valuable.
Your ideas are worth more than a “maybe.”
And your energy deserves to be protected.
You don’t have to prove yourself to people who already say they trust you.
You don’t have to chase.
You don’t have to shrink.
The right clients? They’ll recognize your value - and they’ll act on it.
All you need to do is keep showing up, keep doing the work - and trust that your “yes” clients are out there. Loud, clear, and ready.
